Comments: Hi Gabby, Would you please consider sending this on to Andrew MacKenzie in response to his input of March 2011.
Hi Andrew, In 1955, 2 Wing 3 Sqn included engine fitters, but I was one of the E&I types. The snag in charge of the room I was in was Wally Kidd, later commissioned as a navigator on Canberras

Comments: Gabby, are those bizarre Aussie animal faces supposed to frighten an ex-Brat? If you want to do that get a photo of SWO Joe! I see we are still without an important 79th official photo of the Airframers squadron on our web site? Surely somebody from our Airframe trade has an official photo to send to you? Could you perhaps put an advert in this guestbook for this official photo!
Admin reply: Tony, what Aussie animal pics are you referring to? I am mystified! J.

Comments: I was a 76th Entry NCO/AA in charge of a roomfull of 79th E&I lads in 2 Wing, 3 Squadron in 1955. I can't remember the Block number or room, but I do remember some of the names - McLoughlin (with whom I am in touch - he lives in Canada), Hurrell, Rogers, Chevantre all come to mind. I've often wondered what became of them, so if any of this rings any bells, please do get in touch. It was awful the way in which the lives of young, vulnerable, impressionable lads were but in the hands of L/A/As with absolutely no training or preparation of any kind, so sorry if I didn't do too well on that front!

Comments: I visited your website on invitation by Sandy 'Jock' Johnson (79th) Pipe Major. Your website is excellent. I am Pipe Major of the Golden Oldies and the author of the book 'Halton Drums the History of the RAF Halton Pipe Band'. Sandy has provided useful information of the band in your time. The Golden Oldies are preserving the Halton Pipe Band traditions and invite all ex-members of the band, particulary pipers, to join us. Best Wishes Keith Youldon (63rd) Golden Oldies Pipe Major
Comments: I have the dubious honour of being placed on a fizzer, by none other than the WW2 famous "Bomber" Harris. I happened when I lost a boxing match with a civvy in Aylesbury?(due to illness, I also had overlong hair-maybe the real reason?) But I didnt need to do Jankers as the Sqdn Comm, on reading the charge simply laughed and dismissed the case? A couple of weeks later, I was promoted to "Snag" Tony.
Comments: Glad to see that you are back on the straight and narrow gabby? Sorry to have left "my website" unattended for so long, but now, the weather has driven me back! I have just spoken with our esteemed, "Acting", apparently meaning acting hon Treasurer about our present system of paying our way in society. I am not and wanted to know why and must say that there has been a breakdown of comms between us and the dreaded word "money". So for those of you like me half an hour ago, who do not understand our new system of paying for our costs, both real and charitable, we need to get in touch with Jerry Collier! I had failed yet again, but am now on-line with the rest! Thank you Gabby, I'll now hand back my website to you once again!
Tony Jones.

Comments: Jerry, I always faithfully backup my systems - the whole of this web site is on my PC and a USB stick for added security. However, the Guest Book was a complicated affair using an SQL database that was securely tucked away on the hosting system. I had no idea how to create a local copy, I now regret that lack of knowledge as the US server was the one that died taking our book with it!
The new Guest Book is a much simpler affair and I have TOTAL control and we will not lose data again - I PROMISE!!
